Mixing Fabric and Paper

Weekend again. Yay!!!!

So, whilst Ade watched the footy (oooohhhhh my Studio Calico just arrived!!!)
I scrapped this one. I've been meaning to do this all week and knew exactly what I wanted to do, so it came together really quickly.

On the Studio Calico blog this week, they are mixing fabrics with papers. I love creating different textures, so I've been wanting to play along with this.

I took a piece of thin cotton, scrunched it up and spray misted.
I also used these American Crafts flowers. I have a couple of packs and didn't think I would use them. The colours really weren't me, so instead I've turned to the white backs and spray misted with 2 types of brown and also blue. Each layer wiping with a baby wipe and kept repeating this.
I love how they've dried, almost metallic like because of the glimmer in the mists.

I love this photo of Hollie. She's so like me in so many ways.

We are off to the cinema this morning and then meeting up with the inlaws after for pizza. mmmmmm I love Pizza Express. I have the same everytime goats cheese and sundried tomatoes. Yum!

But first, I'm going to go and open my lovely new kit. For a moment then, I forgot about it waiting to be opened : )

There's No Place Like Home

It always makes me think of the 'Wizard of Oz' that little line. I love that film so much, although I do prefer the second 'Return to Oz'.
Anyway, that's not the reason for posting today.

I have a new challenge to shout about from The Studio along with my LO to show you.
I know that usually challenges go live on Sundays, but we've decided to have some extra fun over the next month whilst all the footy is on.

So here's our first bonus challenge to be played along with:

Do you get excited about the World Cup?
As a bonus challenge this weekend we'd like to see your World Cup inspired pages!
If you are the kind of person who can't wait for the madness to be over then you could scrap about the country you live in or your kid's soccer team instead.

I'm not into footy at all (although I did enjoy the celebrity match last Sunday)
So I decided to scrap this instead going along the theme of 'Home'. (click on photo)

These photos were taken in the Disney Park Epcot, Orlando. There are lots of countries and for some reason it was very exciting being on home ground. This first visit we even had chips.

I've used last months Studio Calico kit. I've loved playing with that Hambly overlay. I cut circles out to stick the Jenni Bowlin butterflies on and cut the butterfly trail out of it too.

If you aren't into the footy either, please don't think this challenge isn't for you, join in and scrap about your home, your country etc....
Visit The Studio here to join in.

The Celine Navarro class starts tonight. I can't wait : )

Sketchy Thursday Time

I can never get enough of these sketches.
Are you ready for the next?
Here you go...

I seem to be on a Hollie roll lately.
My dear daughter.

Using up lots of bits and pieces from a Studio Calico Addon kit I received a couple of months back.

Don't forget to head over to the Sketchy Thursday Blog. Take a nose at the inspiration there and link up your own LO.
There's an additional sketch right now too, with the winner winning a Guest Designer spot during July. The deadline is 19th June if you want to give it a go. The direct link is here.
Good luck x

My Big Girl

This is going to be so quick. Kiddie rows going on in the other room : (

Here's Studio Calico's Sunday Sketch.

I needed to get out the bright and fun stuff to play with this afternoon.
The MLS papers were just the thing. Love them! (click photo)

Documenting Hollie's changes. I can't believe she's going to be 11 next month. Feels so unreal.

Hope you like the LO.
Off to sort out those kids!

Because he cares

I love scrapping the 'everyday'. You don't need holidays, days out or events to create a page. This is what I love about scrapbooking. Just documenting our normal everyday lives, things that can be taken for granted so easily.
So scrapped today is my lunch made for me by my darling husband.
p
I stumbled across the Pagemaps blog whilst on Janis's blog last week.
So I thought I'd join in. The sketch is below and that's the prize that's up for grabs. Mmmmmm love Websters Pages.

And it really is because he cares.

He wraps it all up nicely for me, ready in the fridge.

I am so in love with my new butterfly punches. I just can't get enough of them.
Here and here they are if you NEED to add them to your collection.

And I drew a heart onto this tag and stitched along the lines.
I love adding different textures to my pages.

I also made a couple of cards today using My Little Shoebox papers that I'm so chuffed with. They are for the Papermaze blog though, so I'll show when they go on there.

I do believe it's almost kiddie bedtime now. It's been a rowdy one tonight. Hollie had a friend over and they were very excited and Louis is taking part in a school talent contest. He's street dancing and has been practising to very very loud Guns and Roses music. I know, I'm showing my age. I just can't take it anymore.
Better go. Night Night xxx

The Studio Returns

I've been looking forward to this next challenge.
The Studio has launched it's new challenge blog and here is the first of many new challenges.

Have you ever scrapped a page about someone you've never met? Now's your chance! It could be your idol, or just someone who has touched your life in some way, but you've never had the pleasure of meeting them.

This one stumped me for quite some time and I always promised myself since starting taking part in challenges that I would never make a LO for the sake of taking part in a challenge.
I finally decided to scan these photos and scrap my Great Great Grandparents.
It's times like these that joining in with challenges like this actually gets me scrapping things I wouldn't usually have scrapped. I have been meaning to scrap these for coming up to 2 yrs now. I have this old box of photos under my desk that belonged to my Grandparents, but do tend to scrap the 'now' photos. So I am really pleased now that I have this page in my 'old family album'. I grew up pretty close to my Great Grandma (Oma) in Germany, so it feels very right to have her parents and also Opa's parents in this album.

I've been saving these chipboard butterflies for quite some time. They are so pretty.

So get that brain ticking, who can you think of scrapping that you have never met???
Come and take a look and see who the rest of the DT thought to scrap. Not everyone picked old relatives. The Studio.
There will be a lucky winner each month that will receive a prize, so don't forget to link up your LO's.

Here's my newest LO, just finished this morning. My hands are still aching from all that sewing. It's not easy sewing through all that Hambly you know.
I've used the latest scrap sketch from Twisted Sketches.

I've used this older photo of Louis loosing his first tooth.
I've kept it pretty simple, cardstock, paint, Hambly overlay and stitching.

And the twist is chipboard. I've used Basic Grey chipboard Alphas.

Happy Scrapping xxx

Inspired By Colour

I love weekends. They are the best.
I woke at 4.45am today. The sky was blue, the birds were tweeting, the house was quiet, so I decided it was 'me' time.
Now at 9.15am, still in pjs, I've had 3 lattes, caught up with blog reading and scrapped this LO below.

I was dying to scrap this colour combo since seeing it yesterday morning. These are my colours. I love them. This is also going to be the colour scheme of my kitchen revamp.

I instantly thought of scrapping boy/girl stuff seeing as there are the pinks and blue.
(click photo)

Lots of journaling strips.

So inspired this week by Wendy's makings. I have loved her blog this week.

And loving my new punches too.

If you want to visit The Color Room to check out their amazing DT. Go here.

And finally, this was made last night.
Another canvas for the kitchen. Took all evening as all the squares are hand sewn.
But looks very pretty up on the wall now.

Right, better go before Ade moans. Off on a doggie walk now and I'm still in pjs when I said I would get ready 30mins ago.

Have a great Saturday xxx

Sketchy Thursday

Yes, it's another Sketchy Thursday, don't they come around fast.
What do you think of this weeks sketch?

It instantly gave me the urge to get messy. Paints, mists etc.... I just love getting my fingers messy.

I decided to scrap a 'feeling' this week. One for my 'ME' album.
Do you ever get this feeling? Everything goes abit Blurry, life seems fuzzy kind of like it's all out of focus. Sometimes I feel like I'm in a bubble. My head gets so busy and I just can't think straight.

I wanted my page to reflect these feelings, that's why I chose this busy paper, stuck on my photo wonky and just got messy. I got a file to my chipboard alphas to roughen them up abit. Flicked paints and mists.

This photo taken by Ade was perfect with me in focus and the kids out of focus.

But the conclusion to all this .... Get a grip and put things into perspective. Life really isn't that bad.

I think this is my once a month head.
I quite enjoyed scrapping something different for a change though.

After all that, if you like the sketch as much as I do. Take inspiration from it and then share over at Sketchy Thursdays.

Have fun xxx

Twisted Sketch #051 on Canvas

Here's the latest sketch on Twisted Sketches.
The twist is 'new'

Yesterday Hollie and I made cupcakes. Beautiful cup cakes : )
So today I scrapped our new cakes using my new Cocoa Daisy kit.

I've repainted some canvases that hang in my kitchen this week.
The recent LO's that I've made using my favourite recipes are now on those canvases along with todays new one and the wall now looks like this.
(click photo)

My fave scrappy friend Nicky just popped by with her family for lunch. Nicky is coming down to me for a scrappy weekend at the end of this month and I can not wait : )

Now I'm about to tackle homework with the kids.
Not something I'm in the mood for, I certainly know they won't be in the mood for it, but I don't want to leave it until Sunday.

I'm Back !

It's seems like ages since I blogged.
We are now on school hols for a week, so always a bit tricky for 'me' time.
Saying that, I have finished off a large canvas for the hall way today and made the most beautiful cupcakes with Hollie today. I have also made a Sketchy Thursdays DT LO. So it actually has been a pretty good crafty day.

We had a fantastic time at my sister's this weekend. She looked so beautiful at her wedding party. Here's us together.

She's such a classy bird.

It was lovely catching up with family and then spending the weekend with my sis an the family. We had such a lazy day on Saturday. This is my fave photo. Hollie was eating her cereals and Millie just got on her lap and helped herself. She's such a character. I love her to bits.

Before I shoot off to watch 'Britains Got Talent' a family ritual that we seem to be stuck in, I just wanted to share this frame I made not long ago using bits and pieces from papermaze.

You can read a whole tutorial on how it was made on the 'scrap, paper, scissors' blog here.

I do believe it's pjs time now.

Lots of love xxx
