Scrap365 Blog Hop

We are getting your scrapping New Year off to a flying start!!!

This month we are teaming up with Finnabair and her amazing DT from Mixed Media Place.

One of the things that we are very conscious of here at Scrap365 HQ is that if you are new to scrapping it can be really overwhelming with the choice of products to use and the host of styles to emulate….the same could be said if you’re experienced!!

So we have decided that 2014 is the year to get BACK to BASICS!! It doesn’t matter if you have been scrapping for ten years or ten days...you will be sure to learn something new along the way!

Finn has very kindly donated a marvellous prize to either add to your stash or to get you started.

All you need to do to be in with a shot of the prize is follow Scrap365 and Mixed Media Place blogs. Like us both on Facebook and leave a message here telling us which layout principle you are going to try! We would love to see your take on the Principles so be sure to upload them to our Facebook page :)

Our January Blog Hop is all about layout principles. I found this fabulous prompt on Pinterest, courtesy of SuzyQ Scraps http://suzyqscraps.com/. It really sums up the beginnings of every layout.

I chose to go with the Alignment. Choosing a photo and printing it off 2 further times.

I've also made one with the 3 photos, but using different photos.
I'm going to be totally honest here and say, I have actually added this LO since posting this blog hop post this morning. I had this second LO ready, but I just wasn't happy with it. I didn't feel happy with adding it to my post. It's been sat on my desk for some time now (it was actually started before Christmas) but I just couldn't move forward with it and it just didn't look finished.
So this morning I've taken some time and I decided that I wouldn't let this LO get the better of me.

I removed the original title which was just 'Hats' where 'Disney' now is and added an Extra long title.
I like a good amount of balance on my pages and I needed to balance out my title by using the same colours top and bottom. I stuck to a colour combo of red, aqua and navy.
I also used a Simple Stories sticker sheet - Urban Traveler and added the stickers around the edges.
I now feel so much happier with this LO and it finally feels finished.

My sweet friend Alexa gave me some goodies when she visited me recently. The fabric Studio Calico cameras were amongst the goodies. I inked them in blue and added some red pen to them.

These stickers really did the trick and saved this LO.

So there you have it, the story of the saved LO.
Am I the only one that has moments like these???

Don't forget to leave your comments on the Scrap365 Blog when you get back to the beginning and follow the instructions to be in for a chance to win that gorgeous prize! And maybe you could leave some blog love on the DT blogs along the way.

Here is the full blog list.

Thanks so much for playing along with us.
Have funxxx

With You, a sketch & a sore eye...

Hello.
I hope you had a good weekend.

Lets start with something scrappy.
The new Scrap365 Sketch Challenge went live at the weekend.
You can view the sketch and challenge here.
You can play until 15th Nov.
The prize this month comes from Glitz Designs.

My take on the sketch was shown the on Scrap365 blog yesterday.

I used the patterned papers from Chic Tags for the first time.
Wow!!
They are amazing quality. So thick. I really like them.
I also used some sweet little Fancy Pants frames, tags and buttons.
This was Louis and I on a ride at Animal Kingdom.

We've had a really busy weekend.
My sister and her family visited on Saturday and watched Louis play footy. They stayed til later in the evening. We just chilled, it was so good. We watched 'Up' and went for an afternoon stroll and I'd made a chili soup  in the crockpot before we went out in the morning.

Yesterday we were out at 8am and got the train with friends into London.
It was pouring with rain but we were hopeful as sun was forecast for 9am and it was pretty spot on : )

We got there for 9.30am, it's the slow train on a Sunday and takes an hour.
We grabbed Costas at Waterloo and went on to the Sealife Centre.
We all have Merlin Passes, so today was a Merlin day : )
No queues and we went straight in.
I was really surprised. After being to Orlando the parks over here just don't match up at all. They are so lame, but the Sea Life Centre was actually really good. It was busy, so it was easy to wander around with the kids and see and enjoy everything. They got hands on with starfish here.

It just amazes me that there are big Tiger Sharks and Penguins living in the centre of London.
Next up was on London Eye, just 5mins in the queue. Merlin passes again.

We then let the kids run around in the play area near the eye.
Louis came to me trying not to cry saying 'I've hurt myself'. He's scraped his face and knocked his eye : ( He was so brave and I ran off to find some ice and came back with a lemonade ice lolly.
Helped with the swelling and tasted good after. It cheered him up abit.

We headed over the bridge and went to Trafalgar Square and then on to Leister Square and China Town. The rain didn't start until we were on our way back over the bridge. We did well.
We got the 3.30 train back loaded with Krispy Kreme Donuts and Costa Lattes.

It was such a good day and we had so much fun.
Louis' eye looks sore today though and he can't open it fully.
It always happens to Louis!!

So that was our weekend.
I hope you had a fun one.

Love to Write (and a sketch)

I've been meaning to get my bum here and blog for a few days now.
Lots to share and tell.

Today I will start with this.

Yay!! I made the front cover of SCRAP365 again : )
So chuffed!!
We went in to WHSmiths on Friday after school and got excited seeing it on the shelves. There are photos of the kids on there.
If you haven't got a copy yet, I recommend. It's a really good issue.

And I also wanted to share with you the latest SKETCHBOOK365 Challenge here.
I do love a sketch challenge.
The sketch was actually based on one of the LO's I made for the magazine this month.
I then went on to make another LO for the sketch blog. I got sent some rather snazzy Bo Bunny Papers and matching bits and made this.

There's a lovely Bo Bunny prize for the winner, so get your entries in by 10th October.

It's a football training night for us, so that's early dinner.
Better dash.
See you soon xxx

All for the love of craft!!

It feels like summer has packed up and gone for good.
Where's that sunshine we had last week???????
We are back to drizzle, hot chocolates and hotwater bottles at bedtime (or is that just me?).

I was looking back at some older pages from last year and found this one that was made for the SCRAP365 magazine.
The photos were taken during a weekend to Paris with some lovely scrapbooking girlies.

It was such a lovely weekend with the perfect traveling companions.
We stopped off at a big craft expo on the Friday evening which was the reason (excuse) for the trip : )
A couple of the girls bought huge MDF trees. I was tempted but could not be hassled with the thought of carrying it back on the Eurostar.
So on the Sunday when we checked out of the hotel, we did our last stint of sight seeing before taking the metro back to the Eurostar and then walking through London and taking the tube and then train back home.
It was funny and we decided to take photos of the famous MDF trees whilst on their travels.

I used a Cocoa Daisy leaf stamp on my page. I stamped in to patterned paper and stitched through each centre and then just stuck the centres down and curled up the side to give the leaves a little bit of life.

Such happy memories of this weekend.

And the next SCRAP365 magazine goes on sale on the 20th Sept.
I can't wait!!

Have a great day xx

Princess Dolphin & a Sketch

I'm going to start with a bright and fun one this week.
It's Princess Dolphin.
I don't think that's her real name, but that's what Hollie and I called her.
Isn't she pretty?

We were at SeaWorld and Hollie was in a very fun and happy to be photographed mood. So you have to just make the most of it whilst it lasts : )

This LO is for the Sketchbook365 challenge. It's the new August Sketch. See here.
Love this sketch!!
You can click that link to see what the other DT'ers did and the prize that's up for grabs too.

I hope you are enjoying this lovely weather.
Smelling the nivea sun lotion and after sun each day just reminds us of Florida : (
446 days to go....

Cover Girl

I'm a little bit excited today : )

I'm on this months cover of SCRAP365.
How cool is that?!!

Here's a LO that I made for the 365 Sketch Blog a while ago, that I never ended up posting here.

We took this photo of Louis as we entered Universal Studios in Orlando.

Hollie is off to the Alton Towers theme park with school today. I dropped her off at 5.45am.
Louis had his leavers bbq and disco at school yesterday. We are almost at the end of term.
Louis and I are going strawberry picking with friends after school tonight and off for coffee and cake after : )

Have a delightful day xxx

A Sketch & a Design Team Call

Hello and Happy Friday to you.

I've just been getting my next lot of SCRAP365 stuff up together ready to send in next week. Lots of fun features coming up.

Have you seen the latest sketch challenge on the Sketchbook365?
You can see it here. The challenge runs unti 19th April and we are sponsored this month by 'A Sprinkle of Imagination'

Here's my take.

A bit of a pink and orange combo going on here today.
I love this photo that Louis took of us on Anna Maria Beach in Florida.
It was taken on the day that the big storms were due to hit Orlando. We swapped our days to go to the beach instead as the forecast was dry. We escaped the rain, the plan worked. It was rather overcast on this day though but it was hot and dry.

I heard this quote in the movie 'The Vow'. Hollie and I love that film. I knew I had to use it on a page.

And if you love working with sketches, the SCRAP365 Sketch Blog (sketchbook365) are looking for
a team to work on their sketches each month. You can read all about the call here.
Good Luck!

Have a lovely day.
We are popping out with the kids later. Ade is off today. We are planning lunch out, a little shopping in town and maybe a swim later. Followed by Comedy Friday tonight. Yay The Middle and Modern Family started back last week.

See you soon xxx

I'm so Dizzy, (my head is spinning)

Happy Sunday to you!!

I have a funny head.
I woke up with it yesterday.
I was supposed to be displaying my wedding stationery stuff at a friend's wedding open day at her hair salon yesterday, but woke up with the room spinning and feeling so sick.
After going back to bed, I did get Ade to drive me and I set up and left it all there.
My head is still really odd though. Every now and then the room just spins or I feel in a completely in a giddy daze. Really strange.
But apart from that all is good : )

I have a LO to show here today from the Scrap365 sketch blog.
I love this months sketch which you can see here. I can see me using this one again.

I'm totally in love with the Scret Crush collection from Pink Paislee.
I printed this photo of Ade and I that Louis took of us on the beach at Anna Maria Island in Florida in October. I love the colour of that sea. It was about 5pm and the sun was starting to set.

I used one of the Pink Paislee Photograms that I hadn't used on my valentines banner shown in my previous post. Along with some of the matching Photo Frames. Love these!!

After meeting the girls/owner at the Chic Tags stand at CHA, I came home and placed an order with them.Their products are sooooo good. I found the postage really good from the US too. I placed a good size order and the postage was just $8. You can see the tags I used on this page here.

I also used the Cocoa Daisy Arrow Stamps with the Prima Chalk Inks and Ronda's Pie Chart Mask.

And whilst I mention Ronda, have you seen she has a new website?
Take a look.
I just love this bright site. I think you will love it too : )

If you fancy playing along with us at SCRAP365 you have until 15th March to upload your sketch here.  One lucky winner will win some XCUT dies.

I hope you are having a lovely weekend xxx

The Green Umbrella Mini Book

A Happy Weekend to You!!
I hope you are having a good one.

Following on from the SCRAP365 Bloghop this week I thought it would be fun to share something that I made for the magazine quite some time ago. This was back in 2011 infact.
I made a special mini book for my sweet sister, Sarah-Jane.
I love that girl to bits!
I managed to get my hands on an old copy of her favourite childhood book 'The Green Umbrella'.
I gesso'd the pages, misted and added bits and pieces, some photos, some notes and quotes and then I had a very special little book to give to her.

Here are just a few pages.
Us, then and now. (I'm the older one by 5yrs).

I'm so glad we are so close. She really is my best friend.
I love this little book.

Have you got the latest issue of SCRAP365 yet?
It's the new bi monthly larger version. I hope you like it : )
There's some beautiful features in there.

My hubby is running me a bubblebath, so I'm off now.
It's Louis' 11th birthday and it's been a busy one. I'm going for a soak whilst her plays on the ps3 for 30mins.

Thanks for stopping by xxx

Captured

Hello.

So, today 21.12.12
Will it or won't it???

Louis has been in a panic for months.
He's a worrier at the best of times.
We've been counting down the days left at school whilst he's been counting down the days til the world ends.
He didn't want to sleep last night as he was scared, but was straight out : )
Poor thing.

I have a DT LO to share today that I made for the Scrap365 January sketch challenge.
The challenge has gone live today and runs until January 17th.
Here is my LO.

I've used some fun October Afternoon 'Modway' papers on this LO. The arrows were all cut out from one of the papers. The metallic mists are from Maya Road.

I love the kids faces on this photo. It was a ride photo taken at Magic Kingdom on the Toy Story ride. It captured them so well : )
Louis ended with 603'800 points whilst Hollie had just 7700. The camera captured her looking over at his score whilst he was laughing at her. What perfect timing!!

And I've used bits and pieces from some previous Cocoa Daisy kits.
And I love that large 'Today' journal stamp from CD too. I've had so much use from that. It's great to have a journal stamp that actually has a decent amount of space to journal in.

Please pop over to the Scrap365 sketch blog to see the sketch here and see what the rest of the team did with the sketch.
The challenge is being sponsered this month by :  http://www.indigoblu.com/

The kids are finishing school at 1pm today, so Ade and I are going to wrap the last few bits. The Waitrose shop has just been done. So all grocery shopping now finished. I cleaned the frdige out before unpacking, so I think we are more or less sorted.
We are taking the kids to see Nativity 2 after school : )
We always like to see a Christmas movie at the cinema.

I hope you are feeling festive.
And good luck with the whole 21.12.12 thing **cheeky grin**

Cordon Blue & A Scrap365 Sketch

Hello and a Happy Monday to you today.
I hope you had a good weekend.

I have a sketch challenge to share with you this morning.
It's the December Scrap365 sketch.
Here is my LO that I made for it.

When we were in Island of Adventures we hunted down the Mystic Fountain.
There had been chat about this fountain on the Florida Forum that I go on.  We'd visited this park on our other trips by never noticed this fountain. We hung around and laughed so much. The fountain shouts out and is so rude to people.Pretends to spit at people when they go past and make them jump. It was so funny.Louis kept trying to run up and through coins in but was going around the outside to avoid being squirted. The fountain was shouting at Louis and calling him 'Cordon Blue' (he was wearing his blue Chelsea top). It was shouting ''Hey you Cordon Blue!!'' Are you chicken???''.
We spent quite some time here, it was so funny : )

I bought lots of Basic Grey 'Serendipity & Shine on' whilst in Orlando so used some of these new bits on this page.

If you would like to see the Scrap365 sketch, you can view it here and play along.
The closing date to play along is 20th December.
Have fun : )
